Responsible Travel Update
Emma Skelton November 2nd, 2007
We’re delighted to announce that Audley has once again secured 3* Responsible Travel status from AITO, scoring no less than 100 points out of a possible 100!The three star award is the highest level of Responsible Travel recognition offered by AITO and means that we have demonstrated successful implementation and continual improvement of our Responsible Travel policy. Another piece of good news…we will be donating £8,827 to Friends of Conservation’s carbon offsetting programme in the Masai Mara. The charity is currently working on renewable energy projects in the region and has been looking for a donor to enable them to start installing bio-gas units in some of the villages in the area. More details to follow shortly.
And finally, we are looking to develop and enhance our commitment to responsible travel over the next year. There are lots of ways in which we can help, although we believe it is clear where Audley can make the biggest difference and this is to make a concerted effort to identify product that has a positive impact in the area of responsible tourism and effectively communicate this to our clients. A huge element of the success of responsible tourism is in influencing others to behave responsibly and it is our role, as a responsible tour operator, to promote good practice to clients. We will keep you updated as we move forward with this.
