Make your own Angkor Wat!

Papercraft of Ankor Wat, Cambodia

Whilst trying to solve a problem with my printer the other day, I stumbled across Canon’s Creative Park website where I discovered 100s of templates for making 3D models out of paper!

There is a lot of choice - from animals to vehicles, but what attracted my eye was the section on architecture. The idea is you print out the building sections onto card, along with detailed instructions (trust me, you will need them!) and with a bit, well a lot, of very careful cutting, folding and glueing, you end up with a rather magnificent model of your favourite building!

They have all sorts of very well known buildings that many Audley clients will certainly have visited, such as India’s Taj Mahal, Nagoya Castle in Japan, Sydney Opera House and of course, Angkor Wat in Cambodia.

I had to have a go, so I picked a relatively ‘simple’ one to start with – the Colosseum. Well, it did take me about 3 days to complete and it was quite fiddly. But with a lot of patience and some very careful glueing  I was delighted with the result. So was my 7 year old daughter who took it to school as part of her ‘Romans’ project before I could even get a photo!

For more information, visit the Canon Creative Park website and if you manage to create any of the buildings yourself, don’t forget to send us a photo!
