Raising money for Movember
Well, it’s that time of the year again: the leaves are falling, the clocks have gone back and a number of my male colleagues are wandering around the New Mill sporting slightly dodgy facial hair. No, they haven’t forgotten how to shave, they are taking part in ‘Movember‘.
For the second year running various Audley employees have decided to dedicate their faces to this very worthy cause, which will see them go the whole month of November without shaving their top lips. And if last year is anything to go by, their efforts will provide the rest of the company with a lot of laughs!
Now in its eighth year, Movember encourages thousands of people around the world to take part in a month-long fundraising effort, raising money for men’s health, including prostate cancer, the most common form of cancer in men in the UK. Last year, 112,000 Mo Bros and Mo Sistas took part, bringing the sponsorship total to £11.7 million.
Along with raising vital funds, Movember helps to highlight men’s health, a subject which is too often ignored. In the UK the money collected supports the number one and two male specific cancers – prostate and testicular cancer.
The Audley Mo Bros are only three days into their challenge but already they have managed to raise a whopping £553, edging ever closer to last year’s total of £570. If you would like to sponsor them in their efforts, you can do so by visiting the Audley Mo Bro page.
I’ll be writing an update at the end of November and will hopefully include a couple of photographs of some particularly impressive moustaches, but for now I want to wish all of those taking part the best of luck in the most manly of challenges, and remember, extra points for originality gentlemen!
