‘Earth Hour’ this weekend should be a turn off

Earth Hour

Earth Hour will see millions of lights turned off in hundreds of cities in aid of the planet

This Saturday at 8.30pm (GMT) is Earth Hour and millions of people across the globe will be turning off lights for an hour to raise awareness of issues facing the planet.

It all started back in 2007 when some residents of Sydney decided to show their support for climate change by turing off all lights: they called it ‘Earth Hour’. The following year they planned to repeat it but this time across the whole of Australia. However word soon got around and before long 35 countries and almost 400 cities had pledged support.

Audley will be turning off lights here early as well as machinery like ice-making machines. Please encourage anyone who wants to from your household to get involved by switching their lights off for an hour on Saturday night.
