Alex is one of our experienced Burma specialists and even before he joined Audley was well-travelled in this part of the world. His knowledge of Burma has recently been put to good effect when he narrated the video: ‘First-timer’s guide to Burma’.

He’s been keeping his own travel blog for a few years now so I thought I’d share with you the first part, with more to follow in the coming weeks.

This is the first part of my personal blog on Burma. There are two more parts to follow. I visited the country as an Audley employee in November 2011. I saw Rangoon, Bago, the delta region south of Rangoon, Pagan, Mount Popa, Mandalay, Maymyo, Inle Lake, Kalaw, Pindaya and Ngapali Beach on the Bay of Bengal.

Burma is an amazing country, incredibly spiritual – and this was one of the safest and friendliest travel experiences I have had. The country has seen changes since I visited (the relaxation of sanctions for instance), but I have tried to cover these in my blog.

Hopefully it will be useful for anyone who wants to know a bit more about the country, or is thinking of visiting.
