Who is John Rendall you may ask? Well, if I said the words “Christian the lion” you might get the connection. For it was John and fellow Australian, Anthony Bourke, who bought him from Harrods department store in London in 1969 – and so began an amazing true story.
John will be staying at Elsa’s Kopje and Joy’s Camp in February 2013 and you’ll have the opportunity to meet and talk to him.
By the way, in case you don’t know the story - or even if you do - you should watch the short video clip above.
Book an Audley safari in 2013 and meet John Rendall
Don’t miss this amazing opportunity to meet John Rendall in person, learn more about Christian the lion, and hear about their extraordinary relationship and history – all whilst enjoying a luxury safari in the same region of Kenya where Christian the lion was released.
About Elsa’s Kopje & Joy’s Camp
Elsa’s Kopje is named after Elsa the lioness, made famous by George and Joy Adamson’s biographical book and film “Born Free”. Elsa’s Kopje remains one of the most elegant lodges in Africa, with the most spectacular setting.
Joy’s Camp is built on the site of Joy Adamson’s original tented home in Shaba National Reserve. The site was also home to Penny the leopard, the heroine of Joy’s last book.
P.S. Lions are no longer sold in Harrods.
