Michael Palin finally fulfils his dream of travelling around Brazil in his new series, which starts this Wednesday on BBC1 and BBC1 HD at 9pm.
The fifth largest country on earth, Brazil has now overtaken the UK in terms of the size of its economy, and is next in line to host the Olympic Games as well as the next World Cup.
Accompanied by photographer Basil Pao, this four-part series should be an interesting insight into the religions, races and cultures of this fascinating country. Palin’s journey takes him to the Venezuelan border and the forests of the Lost World, where he encounters the Yanomami, to the headwaters of the Xingu, and finishes at the border of Uruguay and the spectacular Iguacu Falls.
